Susana Palma is a biomedical engineer and researcher. Her research work focuses on the development of hybrid gels for “scent” technology, an innovation based on an electronic nose which enable rapid microbial detection in healthcare. Susana holds a PhD in Bioengineering Systems from the MIT-Portugal Program at Universidade NOVA de Lisboa and an MSc in Biomedical Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico. She has received several honors for her work, including the First Honorable Mention at SHIC’11 and the Bio-Innovation Teams project award from the MIT-Portugal Program. Currently she works in the Biomolecular Engineering Lab, at FCT-NOVA. Her talk will certainly blow your mind with some of the most recent SCENT technologies.
